Hanabi no Kisu

Al righty then! I did this fanart for request of cheeky saru.she is a very faithful commenter and faver (izzat a word?) of mine. I really really really like to get comments and faves because it shows that I’m doing SOMETHING right. XD

So yeah, Here’s a little background story that shows what happens up until this picture.


“Catch your own Goldfish! Only 5 ryou a try!”

Sakura sighed as a salesman tried in vain to pitch his wares to her. For you see, this pink-haired woman wasn’t after any sort of festival game, she was after a person.

This person had told her to meet at the Hokage tower at seven so that they could venture through the town together, but alas, he never showed. ‘Of all freaking people!’

The Inner monologue of miss Haruno was currently tearing apart the confines of her mind prison and steadily making her way towards the surface. “KAKASHI-SENSEI WOULD HAVE BEATEN HIM THERE BY NOW!”

Several small children were silenced as white boots stomped past them in pure fury. “Ka-san! WAH! That lady’s freaky!”

The sleeves of her costume kimono flapped in the wind as she jogged to all of the possible places where Naruto could have been. That’s right, Sakura, the person who would usually brush off such an absence, was adamantly searching for our blonde shinobi. She refrained from flat-out sprinting because her mother had spent 4 hours getting her cropped hair into the ornate buns on her head and she‘d be damned if she came back without them. At least that was the reason she told herself. Some part of her wanted… just for once…

“Ap-Shoo!”

In mid thought, green eyes followed the sound until they came to rest upon a lone figure sitting on the edge of a small dock projecting into a lake. No one was around this part of town that night because of the festival. The figure was murmuring something that Sakura couldn’t hear from her current position. Silently as her attire would allow, she came up right behind the guy only to gasp in surprise. “NARUTO!?”

His head snapped around super fast to catch a glimpse of her. She stared at his red painted face with a tiresome expression. ‘Figures… He would do that.’

All of the sudden he jumped up and held up his hands in what seemed like defence. “I’m s-so sorry Sakura-chan! I… I just got caught up… in um… something. Yeah that’s all!”

‘… That excuse is pathetic.’

Despite her thoughts, she plopped down next to where the blonde had sat previously. He opened his eyes a crack. They had been shut tight in anticipation of a beating. When none came, he had to take a chance and see for himself what was going on. “Are you going to sit, or are you going to keep making that weird face?”

He sat down gingerly.

“…”

“…”

“…”

There was an awkward silence.

“DAMMIT TALK!”

“I said I was sorry!”

“… Psh fine. At least tell me what was so damn important that you felt the need to stand me up.”

“This is Sasuke’s place.”

Sakura’s resolve shattered. ‘… I’m such an idiot.”

“… Sorry. I didn’t mean to bring up sad memories.”

“They weren’t sad!”

The way in which he denied this accusation made the pink haired kunoichi feel like she had made a vital mistake. “They weren’t sad at all,”

He reiterated, “This is where I used to see Sasuke all the time and vow that I’d grow stronger.”

Cerulean depths regained some sort of luster as he said the next line, “And I know that he thought the exact same thing.”

Unwanted water began to accumulate in the lower eyelids of the smaller form on the dock. She used the reflection of the water to gaze at Naruto’s face because she could not bear to let him see her like this. ‘I was supposed to have sorted this all out! Dammit!”

“You look pretty tonight Sakura-chan.”

Her eyes immediately sought contact with the ones she knew were looking right through to her very inner self. When he saw her slightly red cheeks, he mistook it for anger and started to ramble, “N-not that I don’t think you’re pretty all the time- I mean! Um! I just think this is better than training looks- Not that you smell or anything- GAH! I didn’t mean that! Everyone sweats it’s a fact of li-”

Before he could finish, he heard a slight giggle coming from in front of him. “You never did know when to keep your mouth shut. Hahahaha!”

The laughter died out and when she opened her eyes, they held the most tender expression ever beheld by anyone. She turned herself so that she could slide her right arm around his neck.

The night faded and all that the two were aware of was how close they were getting to each other. Lids slid over feminine eyes. Lips pursed. Hearts were in throats. Just a bit closer.

“Sa-saku-”

SPLASH!

All of the sudden, the dark waters of a lake surrounded the couple.
